We have been involved in dogs since 1996, beginning with our first Airedale, Desi. We spent many years fostering rescue Airedales and retired racing greyhounds. Our family now includes Airedale Archie, greyhound Gizmo, and our beautiful little brown beardie, Tossie. We are completely under the spell of Tossie. Her wonderful, gentle nature, quiet stubborness and luxurious coat have completely captivated us. She has been a devoted and tolerant companion to our rowdy 'dale, Archie, and respectful of the senior couch potato, Gizmo. Tossie is currently working on completing her AKC and UKC championships and getting acquainted with herding, which she absolutely loves. We hope to produce Tossie's first litter of pups in 2011. About our name: I remember first encountering Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky poem as a child. This is the first stanza: “Twas brillig, and the slithy toves These fantastic words brought the most amazing images to my young mind. Lively statues and sundials and stepping stones, dancing up and down in turbulant waves. Whatever Carroll meant, he left me with the idea that "mimsy" means bouncing with controlled chaos, much as a beardie appears when at play - light, fleet and sure-footed, twisting in midair, hair flying. For us, it is a happy name for a beardie. |
